A Match of Goals, Determination, and Fair Play

There are games where the scoreline tells the story, and then there are games where the moments between the goals leave the biggest impression. This weekend, RCF07 U15 welcomed AV.S. Sud Ardèche Football to their home ground. The final score was a convincing 7–1 victory for RCF07, a result that reflected the team’s attacking quality and confidence throughout the match. The home side controlled much of the game, creating opportunities and finishing them with precision. But despite the score, what stood out to me most was not the seven goals.

As someone who spends most matches behind a camera rather than on the sidelines cheering for one team or another, I try to appreciate the game itself—the effort, the determination, and the stories unfolding on the pitch. This match offered exactly that. One player in particular caught my attention: a young girl from the opposing team who played the entire match from start to finish. Regardless of the scoreline, she never stopped working. She competed for every ball, stayed focused, and continued fighting for her team until the final whistle. It was impossible not to admire her commitment and resilience.

AV.S. Sud Ardèche Football deserves credit as well. Although the result was heavily in favor of RCF07, they never gave up and continued to play with spirit and determination. They challenged our team at times and showed great character throughout the match.

What made the afternoon even more enjoyable was the atmosphere of fair play between both sides. There was respect, sportsmanship, and a genuine love of the game on display. These are the moments that often go unnoticed when people focus only on the score, yet they are what youth football is truly about.

Of course, congratulations to RCF07 U15 on an impressive 7–1 win. Their teamwork, movement, and finishing were a pleasure to watch. But this match also served as a reminder that football is about much more than goals and victories. It is about perseverance, respect, and the courage to keep competing regardless of the circumstances.

As I reviewed my photos afterward, I realized that some of my favorite images were not necessarily the celebrations after goals. They were the moments that captured effort, determination, and sportsmanship—the qualities that make this sport so special. Great job to the teams and see you both next year.
